Open NGO Canada Domain & Networking Services

Welcome to Open NGO Canada, an independent community project dedicated to supporting non-profit and non-governmental organizations across Canada.❤️ We understand the challenges faced by these organizations in establishing a strong online presence and managing their digital infrastructure. That’s why we are here to help by providing domain names and DNS infrastructure at no cost to eligible organizations.

Our Mission

At Open NGO Canada, our mission is to empower non-profit and non-governmental organizations to focus on their core objectives without worrying about the technical aspects of maintaining an online presence. By providing free domain names and reliable DNS infrastructure, we aim to enable these organizations to reach a wider audience, promote their cause, and make a greater impact in their communities.

  • We want to express our gratitude to the previous registrant who transferred the domain ongov.ca to us without any cost in March 2024, and it has been a defining moment for our project!

Land Acknolwedgement

We acknowledge the land we are on is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto, where our opeation is located at, is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.

Domain Application

How to Apply If your organization meets the eligibility criteria and you would like to obtain a subdomain under “ongov.ca,” please follow these steps: Send an email to admin [at] nic.ongov.ca expressing your interest in obtaining a subdomain. In the email, provide the following information: Your organization’s name and registration number A brief description of your organization’s mission and activities Your contact information, including the name and email address of the primary contact person Our team will review your application and verify your organization’s eligibility.

Domain Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria for Domain Name To be eligible for a subdomain under the “ongov.ca” domain name, organizations must meet ALL following criteria: Incorporated as a non-profit and non-governmental organization in Canada Acting in the public interest and not for profit Limited government influence on the organization’s operations Independent and not affiliated with any political parties or commercial entities Operate in a structured manner with a clear mission and governance structure Have a public profile that is searchable on CanadaHelps.
